Terms of Service

Effective April 23, 2026. Plain-language summary: you buy access to the course and all its updates, the course teaches you to run the system on your own machine, you get 7 days to try it and get a full refund, and we don't promise the AI will solve your life for you.

1. Acceptance

By purchasing or using Second Brain OS ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by Headwater Community LLC ("we", "us").

2. What you're buying

A one-time payment grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to:

• Access the Second Brain OS course content at secondbrainos.co/course for as long as the Service is operated ("lifetime access").
• Receive all future updates, new modules, new prompts, and new ingestion recipes published as part of the course, at no additional cost.
• Use the schema, prompts, and templates in the course for your own personal knowledge system.
• Contact support at hello@secondbrainos.co for help using the course.

"Lifetime" means the life of the Service. If we ever shut down Second Brain OS entirely, we will give at least 30 days' notice and provide a downloadable archive of the course content so you retain what you paid for.

3. Your account and access

• Access is tied to the email address you used at checkout.
• You may use the Service on as many personal devices as you like, but your access is for one person. Do not share your sign-in link or the course content with anyone else.
• Session cookies last 90 days per device. You can request a new sign-in link any time via /login.

4. Refund policy

We offer a 7-day, no-questions-asked refund window. If within 7 days of your purchase you want a refund for any reason, email hello@secondbrainos.co from the email address you bought with, and we will refund your payment in full within 7 business days. Your course access will be revoked when the refund is processed.

After 7 days, purchases are final. We do not offer partial refunds for time used, nor refunds for reasons related to your own LLM provider's fees, your own hardware, or your ability to follow the installation steps. That said, if something has gone genuinely wrong, email us — we are a small operation and will try to help.

5. Your content stays yours

The Service teaches you to run an LLM against your own notes on your own computer. We do not host your notes, your vault, your wiki, or any of the content you create while using the system. Those are yours. We claim no rights to them.

Similarly, any synthesis, Life Mirror output, or derivative work generated by your chosen LLM against your own notes belongs to you.

6. Our content

The course pages, written explanations, step-by-step instructions, schema files, prompt templates, and illustrations (collectively "the Materials") are the copyrighted property of Headwater Community LLC. Your purchase gives you a license to use them for your own personal knowledge system. You may not:

• Republish, sell, or redistribute the Materials, in whole or in substantial part, in any form.
• Share your course access with others or post the course content publicly.
• Use the Materials to create a competing commercial product.

You may share short excerpts with attribution for the purposes of review, commentary, or recommendation. You may also share your own Life Mirror outputs and wiki pages freely — those are your content, not ours.

7. Third-party services

Using Second Brain OS requires third-party tools and services:

• Obsidian (free, local) — governed by its own license.
• Cursor (free tier or paid) — governed by its own terms.
• An LLM provider (Anthropic, xAI, OpenAI, or similar) — governed by that provider's terms. You are responsible for any API usage fees you incur with your chosen provider.

We are not responsible for the pricing, availability, output, or terms of any third-party tool or LLM provider. If a provider raises prices or changes terms, we will update the course recommendations but cannot guarantee any specific cost.

8. No warranty; no professional advice

The Service is provided "as-is" and "as-available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

• The LLM outputs you generate will be accurate, insightful, or useful.
• The system will be free of bugs, errors, or interruptions.
• Following the course will produce any specific life outcome, productivity gain, or self-insight.

LLM outputs are not professional advice. Do not use Life Mirror outputs, AI-generated summaries, or any content produced by this system as a substitute for medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or professional guidance. The system is a tool for reflection; it is not a therapist, doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Headwater Community LLC's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages — including lost data, lost revenue, or emotional distress — arising from your use of the Service or its outputs.

10. Termination

We may revoke your access, without refund, if you:

• Share your access credentials or course content with others.
• Initiate a chargeback or dispute through your bank or card issuer instead of requesting a refund via our policy.
• Use the Service to harass, defraud, or harm others.
• Violate any provision of these Terms.

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may also request deletion of your account and personal data at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be emailed to existing buyers. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept a change, you may request a refund (if within your refund window) or stop using the Service.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
